High hopes for 2011

Our apologies for the brief blogging hiatus. Liz was going to post but got swamped at work the last couple of days. I was going to pick up the slack but was slammed with a stomach virus instead. So now we're hoping for a fresh start in the new year. It's now 11dpi and we're still testing negative with no symptoms. I'm pretty sure it would take a miracle for the test to come back positive and stick. Although it's not over until the fat lady shows her face. If she does, we may reconsider our approach. At first we wanted to try up to 3 at home inseminations. Now I'm anxious and ready to say the hell with it let's see a doctor. We're both really want a family of our own, and each passing day the yearning grows.

8 days past insemination (8dpi) and slowly losing our minds

This post is going to be a short one. I was hoping to explain why we have chosen the nicknames of the seahorse and the sperm fairy but I just don't have the energy. I started feeling really weak after work and it just hasn't gotten better. Liz was also feeling a little under the weather so it's early to bed for the both of us.
In baby making news, there really is none. Although we know they will not be correct until 14dpi, we started doing pregnancy tests two days ago. Yes this is silly, and adding to our mounting insanity. In a way it is also reassuring. We are trying to emotionally prepare ourselves for a negative test so having several of them is slowly breaking us in. I'm hoping that this weak and crappy feeling is a sign of something working.

Here's a pic of our little man Frankenstein in lieu of a well thought out entry.

Fast Forward Introduction

Well this blog certainly hasn't started the way we thought it would. The blog was started over a month ago, but never posted on as life got in the way. So here's our fast forward introduction.

A few basics about us:

  • Aiden (23) and Elizabeth (30) happily together for five years
  • Reside in Metro St. Louis
  • Aiden grooms dogs and nannies for a family with four children
  • Elizabeth is a charge nurse at a local emergency room
  • Parents to four furry kids (three dogs, one cat)
    • Rascal- Old gentle Rottweiler/Blue tick hound mix
    • Luna- Crazy squirrel chasing Shepard/Lab mix
    • Frankenstein- One eyed chug who is convinced he is human
    • Iris- Tiny black kitty with her own set of rules
  • We are using anonymous donor sperm from a sperm bank
  • Aiden is the "seahorse" and Elizabeth is the "sperm fairy"
  • We love art, museums, and road trips
On Sunday December 19, 2010, we did an at home insemination with two vials of frozen donor sperm. If this works, we will not be finding out the sex of the baby.  We are hoping this will help everyone enjoy the journey and not focus on the details. Besides it's just more fun this way. We are now 7 dpi and trying hard not to focus on any symptoms whether real or imaginary. January 1, 2011 will be the test day. Here's hoping that 01-01-11 will be a change in a great way.
